Hanna Piepel is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the intersection of illustration and design with her ceramic practice. Her current body of work tends to jog memories from the past, often at times of gathering or of "home life". White porcelain is a blank canvas for her screen-printed illustrations and slip-painted designs. Hanna enjoys teaching beginners and exhibiting her work at juried art festivals and galleries around the US. Hanna's illustrations can also be found in several published children's books and featured in a new decal line coming in October 2026.

“ Most of my ceramic work is thrown on the wheel or slab built. I prefer porcelain, due to its color and responsiveness on the wheel. My colorful illustration style and hand-drawn patterns are applied as surface designs to clay forms using image transfer techniques from screen prints and handmade, overglaze decals. Each piece is fired two to three times and reflects an obsessive amount of thought spent on design, form and function.” –HP
